Finding Your Perfect Cancun Hotel

Cancun Perfect Hotel

The last time I went to Cancun, I went with a big group of friends; there were nine of us total. Out of all of the hotels in Cancun, we chose a beautiful luxurious property with impeccable service. It sounded fantastic!

However, when we got there, we quickly realized that we were the youngest AND the largest group in the entire hotel. There were couples on their romantic Cancun vacations, older women on an expensive getaway and a few families.

Even though we enjoyed our time, it wasn’t the perfect Cancun hotel for us.

Types of Cancun Hotels

Luxury hotels are the most expensive, but provide every amenity you could possibly imagine. Luxury hotels also usually have a very high-class spa on property. A couple of luxury hotels in Cancun include Le Blanc, and JW Marriott.

All-inclusive hotels are where you can get the most bang for your buck. These all inclusive resorts bundle up room cost, food cost, beverage cost, and sometimes even activity cost into one price that you pay.

Budget hotels are usually smaller properties that provide just the basics for a low price. The budget hotels in Cancun are probably not located right on the beach, but instead a short walk away. Some Cancun budget hotels are also located in downtown Cancun.

Despite its classification, every hotel in Cancun has different rooms, services, and amenities. Some are on the beach, and some are in downtown.

To find out your perfect Cancun hotel, you need to ask yourself these questions:

1. Why are you going?

The reason for your Cancun vacation should definitely play into finding your perfect hotel.

If you are going for a family vacation, you should find an all-inclusive hotel. All-Inclusive hotels are especially convenient if you are traveling with children, as they usually have a Kids Club that can keep them busy the whole entire day.

If you are going on a romantic getaway, you should find a more exclusive hotel, maybe even an adults only hotel. If you are going to experience a few adventure tours and visit Mayan ruins, budget hotels may be right for you.

2. What is your price range?

If you have a spending limit, all-inclusive and budget hotels should be on your list.

With an all inclusive, you won’t have any worries about extra costs for things like meals and drinks and you can easily manage your budget. Even most kids clubs are included in the set price.

Budget hotels lack a lot of the amenities of the bigger resorts, but can still save you a lot of money.

If you have no limit, go all out; Cancun has some of the best hotels in Latin America.

3. How long will you be there?

There is a big difference between a weekend getaway and a week long Cancun vacation. Budget hotels and luxury hotels are good for weekend getaways, and all-inclusive hotels offer a convenient bundled price which is ideal for longer stays.

No matter which hotel you choose, the hotel zone in Cancun has many things couples,  families and singles can enjoy.

Every hotel concierge can provide you with information about tours whether you are on a romantic getaway, a girlfriends trip or on a family vacation.

Have you ever stayed at a hotel that was wrong for you?

Thanks so much for this Carla. There really is nothing like picking the WRONG hotel.
My cousin and I once stayed at a hotel that was completely wrong for us – it was a gorgeous, relaxing luxury hotel…… full of older couples. The fact that we were two young girls had everyone puzzled.
The concierge also told us that he had never seen people our age there … WOOPS!
We felt like we tiptoeing around the whole time.

Thanks for the great advice! I’ve stayed at a few hotels that were sub-par from what I expected. You have to identify why you are going and what kind of hotel environment you want to be in. Especially when it comes to Cancun, it can be as romantic, or as crazy as you want it to be , just do your research.
